shelter quiz summer tapas social the black magic ball chinese new year leicestershire university law clinic membership links sponsors policy and welfare ← older posts committe vacancies! we are pleased to announce that we are now opening applications to join the ljld committee for 2018, with the vacancies outlined below. this is a fantastic opportunity to gain new skills, make some new friends and have something positive to help make your cv stand out. anyone who lives and / or works in leicestershire can apply to join. the applicant must fall within our membership remit (law student, paralegal, trainee, or solicitor up to 5-years pqe), and either work in the legal profession or be a law student. committee members are required to attend monthly meetings and attend our events. the vacant posts are as follows: events officer – there are currently two vacancies for this role. the new events officers will work closely with other events officers to organise exciting, enjoyable and well-attended events throughout the year. the events officers also lead the rest of the committee when it comes to planning our flagship annual ball at the end of the year. experience of organising events will be an advantage but is not essential. law society representative – this committee member is the main link between the ljld and the leicestershire law society. he / she will look to attend leicestershire law society committee meetings and events, to help develop the relationship between the two organisations, and also raise awareness of important issues affecting junior lawyers in leicestershire. the ideal candidate will be someone working at a law firm in leicestershire. student officer – the student officer is responsible for maintaining the links between the ljld and the local universities. the ljld membership remit includes undergraduate law students, as well as gdl / lpc students and we are keen to have more engagement from our student members. the student officer should work to make sure all local law students are aware of the ljld and what it does; keep the committee updated on issues affecting students; and actively encourage students to attend all our events. the student officer must be a current law / gdl / lpc student. social media and website officer – the social media and website officer shall be responsible for maintaining the ljld’s online presence, which shall include the website, twitter, facebook, linkedin and setting up the ljld on any other appropriate social media forums. national law society/welfare representative – the national law society representative shall work closely with the national law society. the representative shall act as a liaison between the two organisations to ensure that the ljld voice is heard and properly represented. membership secretary – the membership secretary is responsible for maintaining the list of ljld members, ensuring that the list is kept accurate, comprehensive and up to date. the membership secretary is also responsible for increasing the membership of the ljld. if you would like to volunteer as a committee member in 2018 please send an email application of no more than around 300 words answering the following 4 questions: 1. provide your name and the name of your firm or university; 2. which role(s) are you applying for? (max two roles, listed in order of preference); 3. why are you are well suited to this role? (max 150 words per role applied for); and 4. what will you bring to the committee?
